Terms of Use

Last updated: May 2026

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using ScriptDraft ("the App", "the Service"). By creating an account or using ScriptDraft in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and ScriptDraft ("we", "us", "our"). Your use of the Service constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. License to Use the Service

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, ScriptDraft grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial screenplay writing purposes.

You agree not to:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its software
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or scrape the Service
  • Sublicense, resell, or commercially exploit the Service without our written consent
  • Circumvent or interfere with security features, access controls, or usage limits

3. User Content

Your scripts belong to you. All screenplay content, scenes, characters, and dialogue you create in ScriptDraft ("User Content") remain your intellectual property. We make no claim of ownership over your creative work.

By using cloud sync features, you grant ScriptDraft a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This licence terminates when you delete your account or the relevant content.

You are solely responsible for ensuring your User Content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, and that it complies with applicable law. You agree not to upload or generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, threatening, or violates any third-party rights.

When you use AI features (script generation, scene polish, translation), your text is transmitted to Google Gemini. Please review Google's terms regarding AI-generated content ownership.

4. Privacy and Data

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy. We collect and process your email address, screenplay content (for cloud sync), audio recordings (temporarily, for transcription), and usage data. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

ScriptDraft offers optional paid subscription plans ("Pro") billed on a recurring basis. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. ScriptDraft does not store your payment card details.

  • Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
  • You may cancel at any time from your account Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
  • Refunds are governed by Stripe's refund policies and applicable consumer law
  • We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice
  • Features included in paid plans may change; material reductions will be communicated in advance

6. AI-Generated Content

AI-generated screenplay suggestions, completions, and transcriptions are provided "as is". They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purposes. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all AI output before use.

ScriptDraft makes no warranty regarding the originality, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of AI-generated content. AI features depend on third-party APIs (Google Gemini) which are subject to their own availability and terms.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. Deletion permanently removes your account and associated data.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or engage in conduct harmful to other users or to ScriptDraft. Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ceases immediately.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ScriptDraft and its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $10.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, those laws may grant you additional rights that these Terms cannot override.
